"Luanyu Hall" was originally a private hall of "Dehe Hall", which is now its affiliated branch. Most actors learn martial arts in this hall and start acting only after they have a basic foundation. According to literature and veteran martial arts actors Lin Jiao and Gu Hongjian, the name "Luanyu Hall" comes from the fact that whenever the Master Hua Guang statue left its seat to travel, martial arts masters would carry the "Luanyu Hall", hence the name.
There are not many records on the evolution of "Luan Hing Tong", but before the war, there was a "governor" (now called the chairman), and Liang Jiasen (the late president) was responsible for the internal affairs of the bank. Gu Hongjian also joined in helping collect membership dues when he was in his twenties. During the war, the actors were scattered to avoid disaster, so it was very difficult to contact them one by one. At that time, there were about 200 martial arts masters in Guangzhou, about 20 in Hong Kong, and more than 10 in Macau. Gu Hongjian, who stayed in Macau, still collected welfare fees as usual and continued the conference affairs.
After the peace, the province and Hong Kong had returned to normal life. Gu Hongjian took the money collected during the war back to Guangzhou and handed it over to the president for arrangements. Later, he rented a unit as an office. After liberation, the domestic government took back the old site of Huangsha The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong and paid a sum of money as compensation. Luan Yu Tang Board of Directors decided to buy a unit on Enning Road today and rearrange the office and practice area so that disciples can inherit the industry.
The martial artists who came to Hong Kong in the early 1950s continued to perform in Cantonese opera. Later, due to the frequent filming of movies by actors, martial artists also joined the film industry, resulting in a shortage of manpower for stage performances. In order to accommodate the shortage of martial arts actors, the play was changed from one play to "The Prime Minister" for one night, and when there were martial arts scenes, other actors were arranged to perform. This phenomenon lasted until around the 1980s. During this period, if there is a performance of Cantonese opera for the Luang Yu Tang membership fee, the participants will need to pay a welfare fee (HKD 2 yuan per day for the performance).
In 1981 The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong Luang Yu Tang was established and the first Board of Directors was elected In 1981, Mr. Lin Jiao became the chairman and led the Luanyu Hall to start its operation. In 1981, when all the directors and some church members returned to Guangzhou to visit the president of the Luanyu Hall, Liang Jiasen, they learned that the ancestral hall and the wall behind it had collapsed and needed money for repairs. They returned to Hong Kong to initiate donations from fellow church members, totaling HK$300,000. Gu Hongjian and Xu Zhaowen took them back to Guangzhou to assist in the repair of the Guangzhou hall site. In 1985, Luanyu Hall held its second Board of Directors election, with Mr. Lin Jiao still serving as the chairman. At that time, there were seventy-two members. After the reorganization, an agreement was made with the class that martial arts actors must participate in the entire stage performance, and daily wages are also stipulated to protect the welfare of members. The welfare fees for martial arts actors have also been increased from the previous two yuan to 21 yuan a day, and welfare benefits will still be paid at the end of the year according to the club's regulations. In the past, there was a requirement for guilds, but these days it has been abolished. Because some older people have retired, and the younger generation are still active in the film and television industry or in other jobs, there are only about 20 people left who work regularly. There is not enough manpower to allocate, so guilds are gradually cancelled.
In early September 1993, the new building of Guangzhou Luanyutang was completed and opened. Hong Kong's Luanyutang Board of Directors launched a tourism goodwill delegation to return to Guangzhou to participate in the grand event, which brought together colleagues from the two places again and again. In addition to having commemorative value, it can also be regarded as an art exchange meeting.
